Week 1

Readings: BFG pp 101-119.
Problem set: BFG Ch. 4: 4, 6, 8, 12 and 16. Due 1/30.
Optional problems: BFG Ch. 4: 3, 7, 9 and 13 (Solutions: pp 583, do not hand solutions).

Week 2

Readings: BFG pp 119-140.
Derivation: Formula 4-13.
Problem set: BFG Ch. 4: 18, 20, 32, 34 and Ch. 5: 2 and 4. Due 2/6.
Optional problems: BFG Ch. 4: 19, 21, 27 (Solutions: pp 583, do not hand solutions).

Week 3

Readings: BFG: End of Chapter 5, Chapter 6: sections 1-5.
Derivation: Formulas 4-27 and 5-9 (Do not hand).
Problem set: BFG Ch. 5: 8 and 33 and Ch. 6: 2, 6 and 12. Due 2/14.
Optional Problems: BFG Ch. 5: 3, 15, 17 and 21.
Optional Readings: FT Ch.2 sections 5 and 6

Week 4

Readings: BFG: End of Chapter 6 and Chapter 7.
Derivation: Infinite well eigenstates and uncertainty relations for Gaussian wavepackets.
Problem set: BFG Ch. 6: 14 and 18 (+ same questions as in 6.14 but for an arbitrary time t) and Ch. 7: 8, 10 and 12. Due 2/20.
Optional Problems: BFG Ch. 6: 13 and 19 and Ch. 7: 7, 9 and 11

Week 5

First Midterm: Monday February 25
